My name is Melissa Jones, and I am the Discipline Administrative Assistant at Renaissance Middle School. I have been employed in the Fulton County School System for 10 years. During my employment I have had the opportunity to hold a variety of different positions, all of which have prepared me for my current position. I hold an undergraduate degree in Early Childhood Education from Shorter University, a Master's degree in Curriculum and Teaching from Lincoln Memorial University, and an Educational Specialist in Curriculum and Instruction from NorthCentral University.
As an Adminstrative Assistant I have a plethora of responsibilities, with a primary focus on creating and maintaining a positive school climate. My primary function is to provide resolution for disciplinary infractions, maintain records of any actions taken, and to ensure that consequences are administered in a fair and eqitable manner. It is my goal to create and maintain an educational environment that promotes optimal oppotunities for learning.
Discipline is the practice of training people to follow rules or a code of expected conduct, using conseqences to correct undesirable behavior. I enjoy working with children and helping them reach for their dreams through their education. I believe that every child should be valued and treated with respect. Conversely students should be expected and taught to reciporcate those behavioral expectations with others.
